About 1,000 players in 14 leagues compete six days a week on two diamonds in Mineral Springs Park.

It’s the Pekin Park District’s adult slow-pitch softball program and it’s been around a long time. At least back to 1946.

Registration is underway for the program’s spring-summer season. There’s an eight-team limit for each league and two leagues are already filled: Sunday Co-Rec ‘B’ and Monday Church.

But the other leagues have openings. Cost is $250 for a team, and signup on a first-pay, first-play basis.

Register at the Park District office at Memorial Ice Arena or online at pekinparkdistrict.org.

Questions? Call DeDe McNeely, the Park District’s program manager, at 201-4007.

Games will begin in early April. As usual, they’ll be played on Diamond No. 1 and Diamond No. 2, “the only lighted diamonds in the park,” McNeely said.

Managers are welcome to send news about their team and photos to the phone number and email address listed below.
