PEORIA — Two more residents of University Rehab Center in Peoria died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, a female in her 80s and a female in her 90s.

According to information on the Illinois Department of Public Health’s website, University Rehab has had 52 cases of COVID-19 among residents and staff and nine deaths.

The Tri-County area has now seen 32 COVID-19 deaths from COVID-19, with five of them reported this week.

Diagnosed cases of COVID-19 in the Tri-County area rose by 14 in the last 24 hours to 559 cases. Peoria county added eight cases for a to-date total of 418, Tazewell County added five, for a total of 109, and Woodford County added one for a total of 32.

The number of people in area intensive care units rose from two to five in the last 24 hours. Twenty COVID-19 patients currently occupy non-ICU beds.
