PEKIN -- Revenge is sweet.

Amara Howell, Pekin's No. 1 singles girls tennis player, got some revenge Saturday, beating Peoria Notre Dame's Mary Breitbach 6-2, 6-1 in the fifth-place match at the eight-team Bloomington Gold Invitational.

Breitbach beat Howell by the identical 6-2, 6-1 score Sept. 3 in a dual competition the Dragons won 5-4.

"Amara just didn't play her game the first time she faced (Breitbach)," said Pekin coach Josh Zinck. "I've been telling her it was nothing more than a hiccup. Amara played her game Saturday."

Pekin's Reeti Patel placed seventh at No. 2 singles at the Bloomington tournament, played at four locations in the Twin Cities.

The Dragons' Sarah Broeker and Gabby Gonzalez were sixth at No. 1 doubles, Maya Siltman and Paige Donnelly were seventh at No. 2 doubles, and Bailey Newhouse and Malia Connor were seventh at No. 3 doubles against a tough field.
