Fifty artists from a 100-mile radius of Peoria are going to descend on Junction City this weekend.

The fourth Annual Peoria Art Guild Junction City Art Fair is coming from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The event is expected to draw more than 10,000 visitors.

For the third year, the Young Artists Show — featuring the artwork of children from kindergarten through high school in the Tri-County area — will return.

Peoria Art Guild executive director Jennifer Lee said the event will include live music, children’s entertainment and a Kid’s Art Fair where children can create “make and take” pieces for home.

Fifty fine art artists will exhibit and sell works of art in jewelry, painting, photography, ceramics, wood, glass, mixed media, metal and fiber.

All artwork is original and has been created by the exhibiting artist.

The Young Artists Show is designed to provide a venue for aspiring young artists to show off their work. All artwork will be original and on display during fair hours. All artwork must be mounted and framed. Prizes will be awarded for all levels. Some contestants will win the opportunity to partner with a mentor artist.

Lee said this event is special to the Peoria Art Guild because it provides an opportunity to expose people to the “incredible talent pool we have.”

“Our mission is to exhibit world-class art and artists. This gives us an o-pportunity to sell and people to view art. With this economy it’s a staycation opportunity,” Lee said.

“Thanks to the vision and generosity of Beth and Alexis Khazzam this is possible.”
