Students in the 7th annual Central Illinois Stage Combat Workshop will present a free demonstration of fighting skills 1-2 p.m. Friday in the Pritchard thater at Eureka College.

The students will demonstrate fighting with single sword and sword and shield, which were used in medieval combat.

The demonstration will include adult language and violence.

As part of the performance, participants will undergo proficiency testing for certification in combat skills that are used to fight on stage and in films.

Ten students from seven states are participating in the workshop, which runs May 16 to June 3.

The workshop instructors are Paul Dennhardt and D.C. Wright, theater professors at Illinois State University and Western Illinois University, respectively.
