Not-for-profit groups of the Eureka area are invited to reserve a booth space at the 1st Annual Eureka Downtown Days Fair.

The event will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 25 on Main Street in downtown Eureka.

The fee for booth spaces is $10 each and the registration form is available from city hall, the library, and the Eureka Community Bank, or online at  www.eurekaillinois.net/festivals/festivalsevents.html.

Sponsored by the Eureka Business Association the goal of the Community Fair is to offer not-for-profit groups a chance to hand out literature, greet prospective members, and/or conduct a sale of items that will benefit the group or agency. Examples of eligible groups are church groups, Boy and Girl Scouts, social organizations, service organizations, schools and school groups, the food pantry, Heart House, American Legion, VFW, and ADDWC.

In addition to the Community Fair, there will be a ‘Treasure Hunt’ with prizes in Eureka Gift Checks. Participants will pick up the first clue at the EBA tent and be led to area businesses to find the further clues. The first person to find the ‘treasure chest’ will win $100. Other prizes will be 2nd place $75; 3rd place $50, 4th place $25.

The evening before the Community Days Fair, Sept. 24, the city will be the ‘Taste of Eureka.’ From 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. businesses and organizations will offer free ‘tastes’ in what might be described as ‘adult trick-or-treat.’

Tickets for the “Taste of Eureka” will go on sale on September 13 at the Woodford County Journal office, Eureka Library, Eureka banks, Caseys, Hallmark and IGA in Eureka.

The Eureka Public Library will be holding a book sale from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The $2 a Bag sale begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The Eureka High School Dance Team will hold a garage sale on the lawn of Davenport Elementary School on Saturday.
