The October meeting of the GFWC Il Metamora Woman's Club was held at Metamora Christian Union Church on Oct. 18.

The program for the evening was presented by Dr. Peter Wenz, Ph.D. , Professor Emeritus , from the University of Illinois at Springfield.

Dr. Wenz spoke on the current debate in the U.S. over Immigration Issues and discussed the pros and the cons of  this matter. A  question and answer session followed with Dr. Wenz. He is the author of a new book, "Beyond Red and Blue-How Twelve Political Philosophies Shape American Debates," available on Amazon.com.

Plans for  American Education Week in November were discussed by the Education  Dept. Chairman, Nancy Bernius. Members were  reminded to bring their baked goods to the November meeting for distribution the next day to area schools , as a thank you to our teachers.

Solicitation was made for 30  more aluminum pie pans for a grade school art project and also both large and small metal coffee cans for a class project, by Arlene Rush,Arts Dept. Chairman. Memorials were designated to Snyder Village Library , in memory of Virginia Alig and to the Isabella Candee Fund-Illinois GFWC, in honor of Betty Tellor, both deceased recently deceased members of the Metamora Woman's Club.The club will sell Uncle Al's Brand nuts and candies again this year and orders may be placed with any member of the club, or by calling Mary Ann Spencer, Ph.# 367-4554.  Orders will be placed November 15th and  will be available in time for Holiday baking and entertaining.
