On Wednesday, The Salvation Army will hold its annual Doll & Bear Tea, rewarding the hard work of many volunteers who dressed over 300 dolls and bears in the past few months.

The awards will be handed out beginning at 10 a.m. at the Divisional Headquarters at 401 NE Adams. Some of the bears and dolls will be auctioned off to The Salvation Army Advisory Board at its monthly meeting and the remainder will be utilized in various Salvation Army toy programs throughout December.

Later that evening, The Salvation Army will have its second Culvers Night. Staff, officers and volunteers from The Salvation Army will be serving diners and bussing tables at the Culvers Restaurant across from Grand Prairie from 4-8 p.m. The Salvation Army brass will entertain diners with Christmas music as well, and 10 percent of proceeds during 4-8 will be donated to the Tree of Lights Campaign.

On Saturday at the new HyVee in Sheridan Village and at the Allen Road WalMart, The Salvation Army will hold its annual Bears-Packers Kettle Challenge. Fans of each team will wear their favorite team’s colors and ring to raise money for the Tree of Lights Campaign from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Christmas applications will continue the first two weeks of December, Monday through Friday from 1-4 pm at the Sylvia Fites Family Service Center on NE Jefferson. For more information, please contact Rich Draeger at 655-1348 or 253-9909.
