Hare did not get the memo

Apparently U.S. Rep. Phil Hare (D-Rock Island)  did not get the memo that "Things are better in Peoria."

The State Journal-Register is reporting Hare released the following statement regarding President Obama’s planned visit to Peoria in support of the economic recovery package.

“It is fitting that President Obama will be in Peoria today. Our region was in economic crisis long before the rest of the nation began experiencing the current recession. Unfair trade has shipped hundreds of thousands of good-paying manufacturing jobs overseas. And while worker productivity is at record high levels, wages have remained flat as the cost of nearly everything continues to skyrocket.

“The real question about the economic recovery package is, ‘Will it play in Peoria?’ I am confident it will. The plan before Congress will create nearly 150,000 jobs in Illinois while making critical investments in infrastructure, education, health care, and clean energy. Even Caterpillar CEO Jim Owens says it will enable him to hire additional workers. It is absolutely critical that we pass this package and start putting the people of Central Illinois and the entire nation back to work.”
