Gas prices falling in area

Average retail gasoline prices in Peoria have fallen 5.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.69 gallon on Sunday.

This compares with the national average that has increased 0.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.74 gallon, according to gasoline price Web site PeoriaGasPrices.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Peoria during the past week, prices Sunday were 15.8 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 2.0 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

The national average has decreased 0.4 cents per gallon during the last month and stood 13.5 cents per gallon higher Sunday than a year ago.
