The Greater Peoria Area Fellowship of Christian Athletes is having Tampa Bay Rays player and Eureka High School graduate, Ben Zobrist, as their keynote speaker at their annual banquet on January 28, 2011. Zobrist, who helped the Rays to their first World Series in franchise history in 2008, was also selected to be on the 2009 MLB All-Star Roster.  As his success on the field increases, he is using it to reach out to others.

“I feel really humbled by the fact that I have a platform,” said Zobrist, who maximizes his status by speaking at faith-promoting events. “We have a passion to use where God has placed us in order to help kids pursue a relationship with Christ. The fruit we need to bear should be in multiplying believers, and we want to help them focus on the gospel and help generate a passion for Christ inside of them.”

Ben’s wife, Julianna Zobrist, will also be featured at this event.  She is a Christian alternative musician with talent that continues to grow from the same passion.  With her extensive music background, solid faith, marriage to Ben, and birth of son, Zion, Julianna’s songwriting is not short on material.  Her debut album, “The Tree,” reflects the depth of her life experiences with songs.

“This has been such a fun journey and I believe that my music truly reflects the process of putting my priorities where God has intended for them.”

The Greater Peoria Area FCA hosts the banquet annually as a primary means of raising support for their non-profit ministry. The ministry provides spiritual support and encouragement for student athletes and coaches at all levels. They help equip them with the resources and tools that enable them to compete God’s way.  This nation-wide ministry influences over 300,000 students in over 7,500 schools. Locally, the FCA is active in 18 public schools and is touching hundreds of students on a weekly basis.

The banquet will be conducted over dinner on Friday, January 28th and seats must be reserved.  Tickets are $30 each or $300 for a table (10 seats) to attend the banquet.  To reserve seats, become a table host, or become a banquet sponsor please contact the FCA office via phone or e-mail. The attire is business/casual. There will also be a VIP reception for all banquet sponsors one hour prior to the dinner.
