Wheelchair basketball championship coming
Amidst the March Madness extravaganza this weekend at the Peoria Civic Center, the National Wheelchair Basketball Association will also be hosting the 2011 Wheelchair Basketball State Championship tournament on March 11-12.
The Wheelchair State Basketball tournament will consist of six teams, and all games will be played in the exhibit hall E on Friday and Saturday at the Civic Center. Participating teams include Chicago Skyhawks, GLASA Wave, NEDSRA Jr. Bulls, Peoria Wildcats, Rockford Jr. Chariots, and Windy City Warriors.
On Friday, the games should play from 10:00 am to 3:45 pm, and Rotary of Peoria will be hosting a supper at 6:00 pm for players and attendees. On Saturday, the games will begin at noon and should conclude by 6:30 pm. For a complete schedule of the games, please visit the official website at www.ihsa.org.
State qualifier’s pins and t-shirts will be awarded to all participants, and the top three teams will be awarded.
The National Wheelchair Basketball Association is comprised of over 200 teams from across 22 conferences and seven divisions. Founded in 1948, the association has men’s, women’s, intercollegiate and youth teams throughout the U.S.
