The Metamora Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Wally Parks, will present, “Concert on the Metamora Square,” at 3:00 p.m. May 15.

The highlight of the concert will be the vocal stylizing of Chicago-based soprano and Metamora HS alumnus, Linden Christ.  Also, featured in the afternoon concert will be Metamora’s favorite singing duet, Curt and Anita Rowden.

Christ will perform “Come Sunday” from Duke Ellington’s historic composition, Black, Brown, and Beige.  Linden Kathleen Christ made her international debut as Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel with the Rome Opera Festival in 2005. She made her professional American debut in 2008 as First Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre.  Christ is the artistic director of the new opera outreach company, Opera Play-House Chicago. She resides in Chicago, where she studies with Judith Haddon and is a native of Metamora, Illinois.

Other music on the program will include marches, standard band literature, and several pieces from the ensemble’s other concerts.  The concert is free and open to the public.  Bring a lawn chair.
