The 175th anniversary of Metamora — which was yesterday — snuck up on Murllene Kramer.
Kramer, co-founder and past president of the Metamora Association for Historic Preservation, laughed, saying a chance remark sparked her realization.
“I don’t know how it got by me,” she said.
Kramer said that Metamora has done a great job preserving the past. Kramer said, in her opinion, the courthouse is the most important aspect of Metamora’s history.
“A president, a vice-president and a supreme court justice practiced law there,” she said.
“That makes it unique in my mind.”
