Many area young knights have been putting aside their armor and resting from their dragon slaying so they can come to the Illinois Prairie District Public Library for “A Midsummer Knight’s Read.”

Children from 3 years old to eighth graders may still sign up for the summer reading program until the July 23 closing date.

As they read books from the library, they are entitled to collect small prizes.

If they complete the program on time, they will be invited to a party in August with folk musician Mike Anderson. They will also receive other prizes, a coupon for a Dairy Queen treat, a coupon for a McDonald's sandwich, and a voucher for a free ticket to a CornBelter baseball game in Normal along with a free slice of pizza at the game.

Stop in at any of the branch libraries at Benson, Germantown Hills, Metamora, Roanoke, Spring Bay, or Washburn to get further details and then sign up for the program.
