Drum Corps International to perform at Metamora High School July 12

“Marching Music’s Major League,” Drum Corps International, arrives in the Peoria area July 12.  Eight drum and bugle corps, including 5 World Class corps, will be featured at the “River City Rhapsody” at Malone Field on the campus of Metamora Township High School. 

The show, co-hosted by Metamora HS bands and the Wisconsin-based Blue Stars, begins at 6:30 p.m., gates open at 5 p.m.

In addition to the Blue Stars, World Class corps performing that evening include from California, The Santa Clara Vanguard, The Troopers from Casper, Wyoming, The Crossmen from San Antonio, Texas, and from Georgia, The Spirit of Atlanta. The evening will begin with performances from the Open Class corps of Legends from Michigan and the Racine Scouts (Wisconsin).

From modest beginnings more than three decades ago, Drum Corps International has developed into a powerful, nonprofit, global youth activity. Through the annual DCI Tour and more than 35 World Championships in 17 North American cities, Drum Corps International provides entertainment to millions through live performances and nationally-televised events. Drum Corps International is Marching Music’s Major League.
