ICC offering green building course

 The Professional Development Institute at Illinois Central College will offer a 12-week training course for green building professionals. The class will meet Wednesdays, 4:30 – 6:30 pm, August 31 through November 16, in Hickory Hall at the ICC North Campus, 5407 N. University, Peoria.

The training will provide a comprehensive look at the design, construction and operation of green buildings and communities. Emphasis will be placed on the categories developed by the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership  in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program, including sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, and innovation in design.

The training is intended for architects, engineers, contractors, planners, municipal staff, suppliers, trade apprenticeship instructors, and other building and construction industry professionals. After completing the course, participants should have the knowledge needed to understand and support the design, construction, and operation of green buildings and communities. At the end of the course, participants will register for and take the LEED Green Associate exam.

Instructor for the training is Anthony Corso. Training tuition is $1,400 per participant which includes all course materials, the LEED Green Associate application fee, practice exam resources, and exam. Scholarships are available based on eligibility. Seating is limited.

The training is sponsored by the Green Workforce Alliance. Funding for the training is provided by a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, Community-Based Job Training Grant Program.
