T.O.U.C.H. to host picnic

The Organization for Understanding Children’s Hearts (T.O.U.C.H.) will hold its annual picnic at Wildlife Prairie State Park near Peoria, IL from noon to 4 p.m.  It is a gathering of families whose lives have been touched by congenital heart defects and the wonderful doctors and staff at Children's Hospital of Illinois in Peoria.  It is a time to renew old friendships, make new acquaintances, and catch up with the doctors and nurses in a completely different environment.  More than 1,050 people are expected to attend this very special event.

Many hospital staff including cardiologists, surgeons and nurses will also attend the event.  This gives the children and their cardiac physicians an opportunity to interact outside of the hospital setting.  

Gail Eaton, Executive Director of the Children’s Heart Institute of Illinois, began the organization and event 25 years ago as a medium to help parents through the difficult time they were going through.  Timelines and activities include:
