Eureka Rotary Club is inviting the public to attend the club’s Eureka College Scholarship Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 27 in the Cerf Center at Eureka College. A social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Proceeds will support scholarships for Eureka College students.

Tables of eight may be reserved for $160. The cost for individuals is $20. For reservations, contact Dick Sanders at 467-3871 or sanders@mtco.com or Lew March at 467-3612 or ldmarch@frontier.com.

Guest speaker will be Eureka College English professor emeritus Loren Logsdon, who will share tales from his book “Stories ‘neath the Elms: Eureka College 1940-1970.” The book, scheduled for release Oct. 1, offers a 429-page anecdotal history of Eureka College from 1940-1970 as seen through the memories of Eureka College alumni, faculty and staff.  Logsdon’s research resulted in stories from hundreds of contributors.

The Rotary’s Eureka College scholarship program is in its 36th year. Begun in 1975 as a way for Rotarians to provide financial assistance for students at the college, the program has raised $340,000 and provided 268 scholarships. The club has a goal of funding future scholarships with an endowment, and members hope to raise the remaining funds for the endowment at the dinner, according to Rotary President Brandon Bressner.
