Lakeview holding climate change seminars
On Saturday, Lakeview Museum will host an exploration into the science of climate change, presented by volunteers from Global Warming Solutions Group. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes workshops, seminars and hands-on activities.
Sheldon Schafer, director education and planetarium curator, will lead the program. Last October, Schafer was selected as one of 20 participants to attend special training from NASA at the Goddard Space Flight Center on NASA Climate Day Events. Other presenters include Todd Abercrombie, President of EverGreen Home Energy Consultants, and Karen Bartlet, Professor Emeritus of Chemistry from Eureka College.
“Global climate change is at forefront of many people’s minds today, both politically and socially,” said Schafer. “This is a great opportunity to separate fact from fiction and make informed decisions about this critical issue.”
Seminars and workshops start at 11:30 a.m. ranging from Polar Science and Global Warming to Do-It-Yourself Home Energy Audit. The event is free for Lakeview museum members. The cost to attend one or all the sessions is $5 for non-members.
