Teams have been announced and TimesNewspapers’ March Mayhem contest is under way for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, one of America’s most buzzed about athletic events. Log onto the contest at www.WoodfordTimes.com/marchmayhem to participate.

The Round 1 winner is Mike Marchand of Metamora, who won a $50 gift card from Kep’s Sports Bar and Grill in Washington. The Round 2 winner is: Rene Edwards of Canton, who won a $50 massage at Chirurgy, in East Peoria.

March Mayhem is two contests in one —   the “Round by Round” competition and the “Upfront” game for the best brackets.

The biggest prize in this competition is $1 million for the contestant submitting a perfect bracket in this contest.

The prize will be shared among any other perfect brackets submitted nationwide in this competition.

Other prizes include $10,000 for only missing 1 or 2 picks, $1,000 for only missing 3 picks.

In the event of a tie in the bracket contest, prize winnings are split. See official rules for full details.

The national grand prize for the player with the highest score in the Round By Round competition is a 16GB iPod Touch.

In the “Round By Round game” participants pick the winners for each round of the tournament up to 15 minutes prior to the start of each round.

Participants must select a winner for each game of the round or the entry will not be accepted.

The participant who picks the most correct games in each round will be deemed the round winner, subject to verification.

Each round of the tournament is worth up to 64 points. Besides the national prizes, there will also be local prizes awarded each week.
