Mehl named ad sales manager
Mike Mehl has been promoted to the position of Advertising Sales Manager for the Times Newspapers group, according to Linda Smith Brown, general manager.
As sales manager, Mehl will be supervising the sales representatives and coordinating client promotions.
Mehl brings 14 years of experience in newspapers to the position. He began his career with the Times as the art director, managing the creative and production departments of the newspapers.
In 2006, Mehl moved his career into advertising sales with the newspapers.
He has excelled at helping the local businesses market to the consumers, creating award-winning designs and offering fresh ideas.
“I love marketing and I love working with businesses to help them succeed,” Mehl said. “I believe in what I sell. Local news is an important resource to the residents in each of the eight communities we serve. What does that mean? It’s an excellent delivery vehicle for the advertiser’s message. The business environment is changing, we all know that, but news is still in demand and no one is better at reporting news close to home, than TimesNewspapers. We have a huge percentage of residents scanning our pages whether it’s in print or online. This makes for a positive environment for a local business, with the right message, to grow.
“I am also excited to lead my team in offering businesses an expanded choice of marketing tools to add to their plans including YAHOO.com, HomeFinder and Radarfrog.com.
“My strength lies in creative thinking. I plan to bring fresh ideas and a focus on service to the clients. I see this is a service-based business. An advertising sales consultant must put the clients’ needs first and fill a role as an assistant to their success. When a customer succeeds, the sales representative succeeds.”
