Polo plackets subject of meeting
Those who sew garments know how difficult it is to sew in a front placket on a knit polo shirt.
At the Thursday meeting of the Woodford County Sewing Guild, Carol Luginbuhl of Roanoke will demonstrate the steps to perfect, professional-looking front plackets.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Woodford County Farm Bureau Auditorium, 117 W. Center St., Eureka, and is free and open to the public.
Luginbuhl is the 2012 president of the Peoria Chapter of the American Sewing Guild, and a member of the Woodford County Neighborhood Group which meets the third Thursday of each month. The group offers monthly demonstrations or talks pertaining to any skill or craft that uses needles and thread (or hooks and yarn). Each meeting also features an ever-popular “show and tell” time in which participants are encouraged to exhibit their latest successes – or failures.
The next meeting will be May 17 and will feature Gerry Meares demonstrating how to make a four-pocket wallet from a fat quarter. Patterns for the project will be given away free.
