Kidz Got Talent returns to Washington June 2

The children’s talent show, Kidz Got Talent, returns for its second year at the Washington Cherry Festival.

From 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, on the CEFCU main stage, the Cherry Festival will present Kidz Got Talent, sponsored by the Washington Times-Reporter.

All performers in the show will be selected by auditions, to be held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at the Washington Park District building, 105 S. Spruce St. in Washington.

School children of all ages, from throughout central Illinois are invited to audition for the competition. No pre-registration is required.

Up to five competitors in each age category will be selected. The age categories are: up to 4th grade; 5th through 8th grade; and 9th through 12th grade, based on grade levels in the 2011-12 school year.

The first-place winner in each age category will receive $75, and the second-place winner will receive $50.

Children with a talent for singing, dancing, playing a musical instrument, acrobatics, magic tricks or telling jokes are encouraged to audition for the competition. Solo performers and group acts are being sought.

Competitors in the Kidz Got Talent show will be judged on showmanship, knowledge of the material, appearance, ability to entertain and level of talent.
