Edible book contest at library

Have you ever wanted to eat your words? Do you love books? Love food? Love being creative? The Metamora Branch of Illinois Prairie District Public Library has just the right program for you — an Edible Book Contest to be held on July 24.

Adults, children, families, or teams may enter. Pick out an interesting book from the district library.

Using real food, create an “edible book” inspired by the story, involving a pun on the title, or looking like a book.

Bring your creation, its title and the IPDPL book to display with your contest entry to the Metamora Branch Library from 11 a.m.-3p.m. July 24. From 3-3:30 p.m. there will be judging and photographs taken. Public viewing will take place until the 5 p.m. closing.

All entries will receive a fast food coupon for a dessert and the winning contest entries will receive gift certificates to local restaurants.

Photos of the “edible books” will be placed on the Illinois Prairie District Public Library website at ipdpl@mtco.com.

Each Monday from June 4 to July 16, a Metamora Branch staff member will exhibit an example of a possible idea for the contest. Come each week and see what we have concocted.

Check websites for other designs. Then put on your thinking caps and come up with your own creation. Enter the contest and have fun.
