Eureka Relay Friday

Eureka’s 17th annual Relay For Life will kick off Friday night at Eureka College.

In past years, the event was held at Eureka High School. However, the current track and grandstand construction at the school prompted the move.

The walkers will circle the President’s House and Guest House on the college campus.

The relay, with a theme of “Olympics — Rings of Hope,” will have the opening ceremonies at 6 p.m., with the survivor lap at 6:30 p.m. However, people will actually start showing up and walking on campus at noon.

The Luminaria will be at 9:30 p.m. and closing ceremonies will wrap the event up at 10:15 a.m. Saturday.

According to the event’s website, there are 29 teams scheduled to walk in the Relay and more than $61,000 has been raised.

Since the start of the Relay For Life in Eureka, more than $3.7 million has been raised.
