A handful of Woodford County residents will be performing in the Eastlight Theatre production of Les Miserables.

Three of the Woodford County actors, Jason Morris, Roger Roemer and Curt Rowden, were chosen as male leads for the musical.

Morris is Inspector Javert, Roemer is Jean Valijean and Rowden is Thenardier.

In addition, Anita Rowden, Kurtis Downs and Jenny Baer are also involved in the performance.

Except for Baer, all live in the Metamora/Germantown Hills area. Baer lives in Eureka.

The six were chosen from more than 100 people that auditioned. The cast features more than 50 people, with experience ranging from those who have been in multiple prudctuions, like Roemer and Rowden, to those that have little theater experience, like Downs, to even those that haven’t been on stage in years, like Baer, who said she hasn’t been on stage in over 20 years.

Baer said that, while most of the cast is from Peoria, a few members travel about an hour each day for the rehearsals and performance.

The show takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and June 27-30, and at 2 p.m. Sunday. All performances are at the Byron Moore Auditorium at East Peoria High School.

Tickets are $19 each and available at or at the door.

The show is directed by Robin Hunt and Mitch Colgan is the musical director.
