We are getting to the final two concerts of the 75th Anniversary Season. Sunday, we are back at “home” in Glen Oak Park as we will salute fireman throughout our country. Join us to spend a wonderful, relaxing family evening and listening to the music of the Peoria Municipal Band.  The band has been celebrating its Diamond Anniversary, 75 years of great music being played throughout the Peoria area.  At the conclusion of this the final concert there will be the drawing for the special prize, the authentic diamond.  The concert begins at 7 p.m.

Sunday night will be the band’s final concert of the season and the big drawing.  The concert will open with a fire department honor guard presenting the colors.   The band will present; “Spirit of the Guard”, “Festa Espagnol”, “Chariots of Fire”, and “Lone Star Overture”.  In addition there will be “Selections from Lion King” and “Selections from West Side Story” plus the “John Kamarer Youth Soloist Competition” winner.

Libby Moore Young will be our vocal soloist and our instrumental soloist will be LuAnn Stoskupf with her piccolo.

The Peoria Municipal Band was formed in 1937 through the efforts of Local 26 of the American Federation of Musicians and interested citizens.  Prior to 1937 the band was a professional municipal band complete with management and "Soloists of National Reputation.  Current band members come from all walks of life; many are currently music teachers in the local schools.  They are selected by audition and then commit to a full season of rehearsals and performance.  Hundreds of thousands of people have enjoyed their music since 1937.  Today, with the support of the city, the band continues the long-standing tradition of excellence in music.
