Participants will learn a few basic patterns in several popular “partner” dances, including Single Swing, Waltz, and Nightclub (“California”) Two-Step. Music selections will include ‘50s, ‘60s, light rock, and country. Both singles and couples are welcome to attend. (You do not need a partner to enroll.)

Geocaching Along the Illinois River Road

9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Saturday, September 29

Bus leaves from the ICC North Campus

Spend your Saturday trying a fun, outdoor recreational activity. Geocaching is like a scavenger hunt in which you search for a hidden object using clues and GPS (global positioning system) coordinates. The group will travel along part of the Illinois River Road in Canton and Lewistown, stopping at cache locations and learning about the National Scenic Byway. The farthest you’ll walk to find your treasure is .1 of a mile, but comfortable shoes are still recommended. GPS devices will be provided, and the group will also visit the Nature Conservancy’s Emiquon Preserve and the Dickson Mounds Museum.

Start Selling on Etsy!

9 a.m. – noon, Saturday, September 29

ICC North Campus

Are you an artist or crafter who would like to sell your creations? Or are you a collector of vintage items and looking for an online marketplace? Find out how you can set up your shop, pick a name, and create your account on the popular Etsy.com. You’ll get tips on photographing your items, writing effective item descriptions, integrating with social media sites, and simple ways to optimize search engine results.

Catching the Buzz About Honey Bees

6:30 – 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 23

ICC North Campus

Learn about the fascinating world of honey bees, their work habits, survival instincts, and the problems that affect them in today’s world.

Quick and Easy Gifts

10 a.m. – noon, Saturdays, November 3 – 17

Jones Sewing, 3140 N. Prospect, Peoria

Use your sewing machine to make easy gifts for secret pals, teachers or co-workers. You’ll make a wine bottle/gift bag, wine glass coasters, and a travel size tissue holder with matching eyeglass case. Bring your working sewing machine (or one will be provided if you don’t have one). You should know how to thread your machine. Check the web site at www.icc.edu/acp for the supply list.
