Join Us for the February Cooking Class

I am excited to be able to tell you Jenna Smith, the University of Illinois Extension Nutrition and Wellness Instructor will be presenting our Monday (February 27) evening workshop entitled “Cooking for 1 or 2”. I love listening and learning from Jenna, and since we have become a 2 person household recently, the topic fits my personal situation.

If you read the library blog regularly, you know we are big on partnerships and one of our most rewarding comes from the relationship we have with the University of Illinois Extension. In addition to the programming we do with Jenna, our Woodford County Master Gardners will begin their programs for 2012 here at the library next week. Stay tuned…I plan to share the details on that with you in Monday’s post!

Monday evening’s program with Jenna will actually take place at Maple Lawn’s Gathering Place and begins at 6:30 p.m.  Jenna plans to do some meal preparation to go with her topic and we were able to reserve the Gathering Place for her. Considering the library’s space and nonexistent kitchen, it seemed like a much better option than trying to work here!  If you have not been to the Gathering Place you will enjoy the experience as it is a beautiful facility with great parking and easy access. To find the Gathering Place, turn into one of the Maple Lawn entrances that leads to the apartments and continue on the road past the apartments. You will soon find yourself at the Gathering Place.

Cost for Monday evening is $3 per person to help cover the cost of the foods Jenna will be sharing. She also provides her recipes on handouts, answers any questions, and shares great nutritional information. We do require that you register for this program by calling the Library (309-467-2922) no later than Monday, 10 a.m. Make plans to join us for fun and food on Monday!
