A Germantown Hills man died following a single-vehicle crash Sunday evening.

Douglas E. Hanrahan, 53, of 801 Grandview Way was pronounced dead at 6 p.m. in the emergency room of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, according to Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll.

Ingersoll said Monday afternoon the autopsy was completed.

"He died of multiple injuries from the crash, including injuries to the head, neck and chest," Ingersoll said.

A coroner's inquest has not yet been scheduled. Ingersoll said the inquest will not be scheduled until test results come back. Ingersoll said it could take two to three weeks to get the test results.

Hanrahan was driving eastbound at 5:15 p.m. on Santa Fe Trail in Worth Township, near 596 Santa Fe Trail, when he apparently drove onto loose gravel on the shoulder of the road and overcorrected.

His vehicle, a 1974 Chevy Corvette, veered across the road and struck a guard rail before careening down an embankment. The portion of Santa Fe Trail where the accident occurred had recently received a fresh coat of asphalt, though it is unclear whether the condition of the road played any role in the accident.
