Chance Emanuels, a 7th grader at Dunlap Valley Middle School, explains the science fair project he partnered with Bryce Honea to create about air pressure by demonstration of a tire pump and a plastic bottle. The students were asked to pick a topic in August and work on it for an entire semester. One hundred eighty nine projects were voluntarily entered into the school's first annual science fair.

At the first annual Dunlap Valley Middle School Science Fair, an estimated 198 students volunteered their projects and the top 20 winners will advance to a regional competition at Western Illinois University.
