School immunizations encouraged before classes commence

The Woodford County Health Department is highly encouraging school immunizations to be scheduled for next school year.

Any student entering grades sixth-12 for the 2014-15 school year is required to have one dose of Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) and a second dose of Varicella.

It is important for any student entering into sixth-12 grade to receive the Meningitis and Gardasil immunizations. Meningitis will be required for the 2015-16 school year.

To receive immunizations, children under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian or call for information on what is required for a non-parent or guardian adult to be able to bring the child.

Clients must bring immunization records to their appointments.

An additional fee of ten dollars per vaccine is charged for out-of-county residents.

Vaccine is also available for children who are uninsured, under insured, or have insurance that does not cover vaccine. Individuals on Medicaid will need to present their medical card for billing purposes. Services will not be denied based on an inability to pay.

The Woodford County Health Department will be offering immunizations by appointment only. Please call 467-3064 to schedule an appointment.
