Residents enjoy the recently finished new facilities at Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka. An open house will be held Friday for the community to see the new features.

Renovations at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka are complete and ready to show to the public.

The renovations, which have been worked on since last year, include a covered front entry, an expanded living room, complete with a self serve cafe and new office space.

“One of our goals is to make residents feel good about where they are,” administrator Tom Hoffman said in May. “The old stigma of having to go to a nursing home ... it used to be a place where you went and died. We’re trying to create an environment where it’s a place to go and live; to enjoy the years you have left here.”

To celebrate the completion of the renovation, an open house will be held from 2:30-7 p.m. Friday for the community to come see the new additions to the building.
