Maple Lawn project moves forward with ‘Go Fore the Green’ golf outing
Maple Lawn will be undergoing more renovations soon thanks to the “Go Fore the Green” golf outing.
The outing, in its 21st year, has brought in close to $50,000 this year.
“It was excellent,” Donna Lee, director of development and communications at Maple Lawn, said. “The weather was perfect, it was just such a gorgeous day.”
The outing featured 116 players on 29 teams teeing off at Metamora Fields on the afternoon of Aug. 17.
“Even though it was so hot, and everyone was worried about the golf course, the golf course was in peak condition,” Lee said. “At least that’s what Jeff Roche, the golf pro, said. The golfers just really seem to have a good time.”
The outing also featured a pair of hole-in-one contests sponsored by Mangold Ford of Eureka and Bob Lindsay Honda of Peoria, with each sponsor offering a car for a hole-in-one. Unfortunately, no one hit the elusive shot.
In the evening, about 150 people attended the banquet to see who the golf outing winners were, along with enjoying the dinner provided by Metamora Fields.
“I can’t say enough great things about Metamora Fields,” she said. “The service to their clients is just fantastic. The professionalism, along with their friendliness, is top-notch.”
The banquet also featured prize drawings from area businesses that support the outing.
“We had sponsors from Peoria, Champaign and lots from the Eureka, Washington and Metamora area,” Lee said.
Sponsors for the outing included Lawnscapes and an anonymous donor at the Abundant Care sponsor level, Hartman Homes, Todd and Janice Hutchins and an anonymous donor at the Community of Caring sponsor level, Maple Lawn Apartments and Cottingham Property Management at the Go Fore the Green sponsor level and several Friend and Patron sponsors.
The money raised from the outing will go toward the second phase of the Maple Lawn Heath Center Comforts of Home project.
“We’re in the second phase of the Comforts of Home project,” Lee said. “The first phase was from the golf outing last year. That was a renovation and refurbishing of wing five. That was completed. It was 10 rooms and common areas.”
The second phase, expected to be started in September, will refurbish and renovate wing one.
The renovations include new paint, furniture, windows, curtains and more.
“Monies will also be raised throughout the year to go towards phase two renovation,” she said. “The golf outing is the largest fundraising event of the year.”
The second phase is expected to be completed by Spring 2013.
