Metamora meets their heroes

The village of Metamora had a chance to come out and meet some of their heroes on Saturday.

Meet Your Heroes, sponsored by the Metamora Business Association, started off with a few songs by the Metamora Township High School marching band before they prepared for a marching band competition in Washington that evening.

The event, held at the Metamora Square, featured the Metamora Fire and Police departments and Emergency 116 talking to the community.

It was started after Sept. 11, 2001, to let the community meet and remember their local heroes.

In addition to meeting emergency personnel, the community got to see the Metamora and Washburn fire departments host water wars with each other before letting the community participate.

On the other side of the square, inflatables were set up for children.

There was also a cruise-in held, featuring various collectable cars.
