Art classes, led by Kim Haas, a former art instructor at Roanoke-Benson High School, have begun at the Metamora Branch of Illinois Prairie District Public Library.

The next class will be in two sessions on Still Life Drawing.

In the Monday session, you will learn to create a still life drawing from an actual still life using contour techniques in pencil.

On Oct. 15, you will add color, highlights and shadows to your still life drawings using pastels to give it a finished appearance.

The classes are scheduled from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and are open to anyone aged 10 to adult.

You do not have to have attended the first class in order to register for these.

Deadlines to sign up for these two sessions are by noon on the Fridays of Sept. 28 and Oct. 12, at the Metamora Branch (367-4594).

There will be a $5.00 instruction fee for each class with materials provided.

Feel free to bring any materials of your own that you think would be beneficial to you, such as pencils, erasers, brushes, etc.
