Obituary: Richard D. Waters, 54, Eureka

Eureka - Richard D. Waters, 54, of Eureka, died at 4:55 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal.

Born May 18, 1956, in Bloomington to Leslie and Carol Blackmore Waters, he married Kimberly Janssen on Feb. 7, 1976, in Eureka. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Richard Waters II of Heyworth; Randy Waters (fiancé Katy Feeney) of Eureka; his mother, Carol Waters of Washington; one grandson; two brothers, Robert (Nancy) Bishop of Eureka; Mike (Rachelle) Waters of Bloomington; two sisters, Georgia (Dave) Kaps of Morton and Nancy (Jack) Goujon also of Morton.

He was preceded in death by his father, one brother and one sister.

He worked for Mechanical Devices Co. in Bloomington and was also a part time courier for Advocate Eureka Hospital. He had owned and operated Kim’s restaurant in Eureka from 1984-1990.

He was a member of the Eureka Sportsmen’s Club and the Woodford and Peoria Izaak Walton League. He was currently an alderman for the City of Eureka and had been for many years.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka. The Rev. Nollan Harwood will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Olio Township Cemetery.
