Obituary: Francis D. "Frank" Ely, 90, of Eureka

Eureka- Francis D. "Frank" Ely, 90, of Eureka, died at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Maple Lawn Homes in Eureka where he was a resident.

Born Oct. 16, 1920, in Henry to Francis S. and Elsie B. Baggs Ely, he married Helen Virginia Lindgren June 18, 1952, in Wenona. She died Oct. 15, 1995.

Surviving are one daughter, Mary Lois (James) Wilson of Benson; two sons, James Francis (Brenda) Ely of Congerville; Charles Lowell (Amy) Ely of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Maurice Ely of Waupun, Wis.; Lowell Ely of Pekin; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother.

A Navy veteran, Frank served his country during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 466.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka. The Rev. Doug Hicks will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Cremation rites will accorded and inurnment will be in Olio Township Cemetery.
