Obituary: Anita Meyer, 102, of Eureka

EUREKA — Anita E. Meyer, 102, of Eureka, died at 6:55 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at Maple Lawn Homes in Eureka.

Born April 20, 1909, in Shobonier, to John and Anna Michel Kruenegal, she married Albert H. Meyer Oct. 27, 1929, in Augsburg. He died Feb. 22, 1978.

Surviving are one son, Nolan (Bonnie) Meyer of Eureka; two grandchildren, Keith (Linda) Meyer of Eureka; Kathy (Vernon) Scott of Gravette, Ark.; five great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and five step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and four sisters.

Anita owned and operated Meyer’s Superette grocery store in Secor with her husband. She was fondly known as “Little Grandma.”

She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Eureka where funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20. The Rev. Joe

Burns will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Secor Cemetery. Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka is assisting the family with their arrangements.
