Obituary: Edith Rentsch, 90, Germantown Hills

Edith Mae Schertz Fauber Rentsch, 90, formerly of Germantown Hills, died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Hawthorne Inn in Peoria.

Born November 2, 1921, at home in Washington to Joseph Benjamin and Pearl Blanche (Imhoff) Schertz, she married Elmer Perry Fauber in Washington on April 5, 1941. He died Oct. 4, 1960. She later married Walter Rentsch in Washington on Jan. 14, 1967. He died July 6, 1988.

She is survived by four children, Ronald E. Fauber of East Peoria, Carol S. (Nicholas) Hornickle of Peoria, Richard A. (Marsha) Fauber of Bartonville and Karen L. Fauber of St. Louis; five grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma Brentz of Farmington and Alta Gehrke of Lincoln; and three stepdaughters, Helen Bates, Betty (Jim) Hawkins and Donna Kay (Larry) Barrett.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara J.; and two sisters, Verna Ternig and Gladys Schulz.

She graduated from Washington High School.

She worked on the family farm in East Peoria and later at Dove Equipment Company and Methodist Hospital Gift Shop.

She was a member of Calvary Mennonite Church in Washington.

Visitation will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday at Mason Funeral Home in Germantown Hills. The Rev. Ken Sistrunck will officiate at the Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Mennonite Church.
