Obituary: Thelma Buckingham, 91, Eureka

Thelma Buckingham, 91, of Roanoke, formerly of Eureka, died at 12:28 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Home where she was a resident.

Born on Oct. 18, 1920 in Metamora to Lester and Alvina Luckert Kent, she married Dick Brubaker on Jan. 20, 1946. He died on Dec. 1, 1972. She then married J. Harrison Buckingham on May 17, 1975. He passed away on Oct. 18, 1998. She married Tom Davis on July 12, 2000 in Tustin, Calif. He passed away on Oct. 16, 2001.

Also preceding her in death was one brother, LaVerne.

Surviving are three sisters, Betty McCanless of Eureka, Hazel Todd of Chenoa and Maxine Hoxworth of Centralia; three nieces; and six nephews.

Thelma was employed by the Selective Service for 24 years. Upon retirement she became president of Brubaker Transfer, Inc.

She was a member of the Roanoke Methodist Church, the Eastern Star, and the Eureka American Legion Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka. The Rev. Dr. Rick Eastman will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Olio Township Cemetery in Eureka.
