Obituary: John Rauh, 79, Metamora

John R. Rauh, 79, of Metamora, died at 8:25 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Snyder Village in Metamora.

Born Aug. 15, 1932, in Spring Valley to Raymond W. and Elyme (Schlund) Rauh, he married Carolyn M. Eckhoff of Benson on Nov. 18, 1956. She survives.

Also surviving are three children, Rick (Deb) Rauh and Kevin (Debbie) Rauh, both of Metamora, and Lori (Warren) Yates of Germantown Hills; and nine grandchildren; and two brothers, Glenn (Sharon) Rauh of Metamora and Allen (Kathy) Rauh of Naples Fla.

Rauh worked as VP and board member of Metamora Telephone Company, which his parents established, for 52 years.

He was a communications specialist with the U.S. army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

He was a member of the American Legion Post in Metamora and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Benson, with the Rev. Bill Hecht officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel and also one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Benson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Snyder Village, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or the Peoria Area Youth for Christ.
