Obituary: Lois DesCarpentrie, 90, Eureka

Lois DesCarpentrie, 90, of Eureka, formerly of Roanoke, died at 6:03 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka where she was a resident.  

Born on Sept. 24, 1921, in Roanoke to Benjamin and Otilla Schumacher Fehr, she married Lloyd DesCarpentrie on March 23, 1942 in Palmyra, Mo.  He died on April 5, 1961.

Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Isaac, Edward, and Benjamin Fehr; and one sister, Doris Gingrich.                                                              

Surviving are three sons, Lloyd (Julie) DesCarpentrie of Hancock, Vt., Russ (Jane) DesCarpentrie of Secor and Stan (Jane) DesCarpentrie of Eureka; one brother, Bill Fehr of Roanoke; one sister, Bena Mae Rocke of Eureka; seven grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

She worked as a secretary for the Roanoke-Benson Unit District No. 60 at Sowers Elementary School for over 20 years.

She was a member of the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Church ministers will officiate.  

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke and from 9-9:45 a.m. before the service at the church on Wednesday.  Burial will be in the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
