Obituary: Celesta Koehn, 92, Metamora

Celesta “Sally” Koehn, 92, formerly of Metamora and Minier, died at 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Roanoke, where she was a resident.

Born Aug. 1, 1920, in Worth Township in rural Metamora to Albert and Elizabeth Kneip Grebner, she married Lawrence Fandel on Sept. 14, 1940, at St. Mary of Lourdes Church in rural Metamora. He died on Dec. 22, 1953. She later married William Koehn on Nov. 24, 1964, also at St. Mary of Lourdes. He died Sept. 6, 1999.

Surviving is one daughter, Kathy (Harold) Kirby of Cuba; two sisters, Alberta Murphy of Roanoke and Jennetta Overend of Mazomanie, Wisc.; one brother, Arnold (Lillian) Grebner of Metamora; 14 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sons, Lawrence, Arnold, Stephen and Patrick Fandel; one brother, Gilbert Grebner; and one sister, Dorothy Grebner.

She retired from Graff Implement in Minier.

She was a member of St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Minier.

Funeral services were Aug. 28 at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke with visitation prior. The Rev. Charles Beebe officiated.

Burial was in Lourdes Cemetery in rural Metamora. There will be a memorial Mass held at the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Home on Sept. 14.
