Obituary: Thelma Riviere, 95, Metamora

Thelma R. “Teents” Riviere, 95, of Metamora, formerly of Roanoke, died at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora.

Born on May 2, 1917, in Roanoke to Henry and Blanche Fauber Priller, she married Firmin “Lindy” Riviere on Sept. 5, 1936, in Ottawa. He died on Oct. 12, 1988.

Surviving are one son, Roger (Marianne) Riviere of Dunlap; two sisters, Virginia (Sim) Bates and Minnie Lawrence, both of Roanoke; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Lyn and Donald Riviere; and one brother, Robert Priller.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke and member of the St. Joseph Altar and Rosary Society.

She was a graduate of Roanoke Victory High School.

She was a homemaker and worked part time.

Funeral Mass was Sept. 11, with visitation prior. The Rev. Charles Beebe officiated.

Burial was in Roanoke Township Cemetery. Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke assisted the family with arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 508 W. Randolph in Roanoke or to Snyder Village Retirement Community in Metamora.
