Obituary: Dale Bitner, 54, Germantown Hills

Dale Thomas Bitner, 54, of Germantown Hills died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born on Sept. 17, 1958, in Peoria to Richard and Judith Meyerholz Bitner, he married Julia Fugate Vicary on Sept. 1, 2006, in Eureka.

Surviving are his wife of Germantown Hills; one son, Zachariah (Lindsay) Bitner of Bartonville; five daughters, Jacqueline (Phil Culbertson) Bitner of Pekin, Cassandra (Adam) Thewlis of Peoria, Amy Hoops of Holly Springs, N.C., Amanda Fugate of Peoria and Amber Fugate of East Peoria; his father, Richard “Buck” (Jody) Bitner of Germantown Hills; his mother, Judy (Jim) Holmes of East Peoria; 12 grandchildren; as well as two brothers, Mark and Donald (Denise) Bitner, both of Germantown Hills.

He was a truck driver for G & D Transportation for many years, retiring in 2001.

Visitation was Sept. 26 at Mason Funeral Home in Germantown Hills. Cremation rites will follow his visitation and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Faith Evangelical Free Church, 1337 Lourdes Road in rural Metamora, with the Rev. Dan Leman officiating.

Donations may be made to the Dale Thomas Bitner family fund established at any PNC Bank location or to the Illinois Cancer Center in Peoria.
