Obituary: Dale Jones, 71, Metamora

METAMORA — Dale L. Jones, 71, of Metamora, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born April 4, 1941, in Clarion, Pa., to Benjamin and Twila (Kiefer) Jones, he married Jacqueline L. Metcalf on May 15, 1965, in Youngstown, Ohio. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Wm. Scott Jones of Metamora; 3 granddaughters; and brothers and sisters, Donald (Dorothy) Jones of Edinburg, Pa., Vivian Fell of Hubbard, Ohio, Ruth Berkshire of Naples, Fla., Nancy Rogers of Masury, Ohio, Arnold (Donna) Jones of New Wilmington, Pa., and Roger (Peggy) Jones of Minerva, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by one son, Brad Jones in 2007; and sisters, Eleanor Krowlek and Margaret “Peg” Haggerty.

Dale was a press operator at Caterpillar, working at Building LL in East Peoria for 32 years and retiring in 1998.

He was a Navy veteran, serving on the Guided Missile Cruiser known as “The Boston,” during the Bay of Pigs Invasion.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. March 1, 2013, at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with the Rev. Rod Schertz officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora, where military rites will be accorded.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emergency 116 and American Diabetes Association.
