LETTER — What's wrong with this picture?
The Germantown Hills Chamber of Commerce is going to endorse Ken Slater in the upcoming election where there are three empty seats for village trustee. Is this what our village has come to?
Ken Slater is a bully, and I know that to be true because I was a victim of his bullying. He has also bullied other village employees, but the mayor and other new board members had them too fearful of losing their jobs to complain.
I was a member of the village planning commission until recently. When my term was up for renewal, I called the mayor and also e-mailed him indicating I wished to continue to serve on the commission for another term. But he didn’t respond to my attempts to contact him.
At the July 8, 2010, village board meeting, he appointed Theresa Olsen to replace me. That is fine, as the mayor can appoint whomever he wishes. But when asked why he was replacing me, he lied. He stated that I never contacted him, so he didn’t know I wanted to stay on the commission. Imagine my shock. Our mayor was lying and doing it so naturally!
But let’s get back to Ken Slater. After the meeting I confronted the mayor and then Ken Slater charged after me screaming in my face that I have no right to call the mayor a liar.
I have been to several village board meetings and have witnessed this behavior from Ken Slater toward other board members. What I have not witnessed are any contributions to the board.
Certain members of the Germantown Hills Chamber would like to keep Ken Slater because they can control him. Well, what is wrong with this picture?
