Gordon is the one

Dear editor,

The race for state representative here in Peoria is heating up, and on at least one issue, education, we have a clear choice on who is better for our schools and children.

Democratic candidate Jehan Gordon was born and raised in Peoria and she has chosen to dedicate her career to serving the people of our area, first through the AmeriCorps VISTA program and more recently as the student retention coordinator at Illinois Central College, a volunteer mentor for students at Manual High School and as a member of the Pleasant Hill School Board.

Her experiences working with the teachers and students of our area have given her a unique perspective on the needs of our educational system. Gordon knows we have to work together to encourage parents and families to take an active roll in their children’s education.

We must come together as a community to ensure that our children have every advantage later in life.

Jehan is exactly the kind of person I want representing me and the schools of the 92nd district in the state legislature.
